CORENA signs strategic contract with Norwegian Rail

15-04-2010

CORENA announce today that they have signed an important and strategic contract with Norwegian Rail (Norges Statsbaner, NSB) for their Visual Information Library (VIL).

Visual Information Library shall assist the mechanics in accessing technical information through a visual 3D graphical user interface, and via the 3D user interface explore all relevant information related to a maintenance operation. VIL shall be implemented in the new FLIRT trains to be delivered by Swiss Stadler starting 2011.

Visual Information Library is a breakthrough, efficient and intuitive way for the technical personnel to access technical information, provided via 3D data models in combination with intelligent maintenance procedures. NSB has been through a thorough tender process and has selected CORENA as the company providing best value and most experience for the implementation of Visual information Library at NSB”, says Thomas Lyng, Project Manager, NSB.

The VIL application will rely on the CORENA S1000D Common Source Data Base that will act as a Content Management System for the Visual Information Library.

The Visual Information Library contract with NSB will be a leading edge implementation where our well known CORENA S1000D Common Source Data Base is used as basis for the implementation of an advanced 3D model based solution for maintenance of the advanced new trains. Having implemented similar 3D solutions for the aerospace industry together with our partner Cadpeople, we are excited to bring our international standards based solutions and experience further to the rail industry”, says Toralf Johannessen, CEO of CORENA.
