Corena has become a member of OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards), which is a non-profit consortium that drives the development, convergence and adoption of open standards for the global information society. The organization used to be called ‘SGML Open’, but was later renamed to OASIS in 1998. Read more about the organization here: http://www.oasis-open.org
Corena joined the organization in order to support their customer, FMV (Swedish Defense), in the continued work with the S1000D-SCORM Bridge API. This is a standard web service based exchange protocol for exchanging data between content authoring environments and the Common Source Database (CSDB) Management Systems that manage and control the data sets.
The Bridge API specification was primarily developed for SCORM and S1000D, but has larger portential. Some of the benefits are:
The eventual goal is to get the API published as an OASIS standard and by that ensure that the API will be recognized and properly maintained for the future.
An OASIS Technical Committee will be created for the Bridge API and will ensure that the API becomes a standard that meets the needs of the broader OASIS community and ultimately the world. Together with other representatives from the Bridge API project, FMV and Corena will be active parties in the Technical Committee.
