CORENA, the leader in S1000D software and implementation services, announced today the availability of an S1000D Business Rule template package. Based on S1000D Issue 4.0.1, the package also includes references to prior S1000D Issues for the purpose of backward compatibility.
S1000D Business Rules are decisions made by a project or organization about how to implement S1000D. These Business Rules cover all aspects of S1000D and document a project’s decisions at each of the “Business Rule Decision Points” (BRDPs) identified throughout the S1000D specification. Well-designed S1000D Business Rules ensure that consistent and correct technical documentation is delivered by all of the responsible partner companies working on a given project.
CORENA’s Business Rule template package contains an introductory primer describing how to use the templates to define S1000D Business Rules, as well as Word templates that guide users through hundreds of Business Rule Decision Points. The templates include the decision points explicitly defined in S1000D Issue 4.0.1, and also include additional decision points identified by CORENA and its customers during real-world S1000D project planning and implementation.
The first CORENA customer to benefit from the S1000D Business Rule template package is the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO) with an S1000D project that is currently underway.
“The S1000D Business Rule template package ensures that customers do not miss decision points during their initial design process, which can result in having to rework data after it has been created,” said Jeff Deskins, Manager of CORENA Consultancy Services. “We are pleased to offer these templates as part of CORENA’s S1000D design and implementation process and expect customers who use them to reduce their S1000D project implementation lead times and improve overall data quality and consistency.”
The S1000D Business Rule template package will be a resource that continues to improve and grow each time it is used and which will be kept current with future Issues of S1000D. Planned support for S1000D Issue 4.1 will include features such as links from the CORENA Business Rule templates to the new S1000D Issue 4.1 BRDP index.
